Life Lately

I haven't posted anything in a little while and that isn't really like me so I thought I would let you all know what has been going on here with us. Not much has changed. Brett is still busy with school and I am still kept busy being a mom and wife. This winter season has not been good for us. We have had a lot of sickness and it is no fun. Mostly we have just had really bad colds (the girls mostly but Brett and I have had our turn being sick too), but just recently Oakley got RSV. It wasn't to horrible though. The doctor said he has seen lots worse but he went ahead and put her on some breathing treatments to help her get better. This first picture is her having a breathing treatment. I feel so bad for this little girl and how much she has been sick... she probably thinks that life stinks. She's a cute little thing and we are glad she is here with us though. (her eyes don't look great in this picture because she is in fact sick and doesn't feel very good)
Even though she has been sick a lot we can still find a smile in her.
Our little Avery has become quite jealous of Oakley the last few days because Oakley has needed so much attention, but she still is a great helper and big sister. We love Avery. She is always full of energy and can put a smile on your face.
When I have some spare time, which I thought I would have a lot more of since I am done with school but really it doesn't seem like I do because I have two little ones now, I like to make things or scrapbook. These are some things I have done lately... nothing to big but they are things I like doing.
I made this doll for Avery.
I made a cute wipes case... it seems like all the moms have one so I thought since I have 2 girls I needed a cute one too.
I got a great deal on printing pictures at a website online. So I printed 300 pictures and now have a lot of scrapbooking to do... 3 pictures down only 297 left
I also made this temple picture thing. It is actually just a scrapbook paper I found and modge podged onto a board. I like it.

We also found out we are going to be here in Rexburg until December for Brett to finish school. I am going to try to get on some substitute lists for the fall so I can work a couple days a week and still be able to be home with the girls some too. When we are done here in Rexburg Brett wants to try to find a job with a wellness company for a big corporation. One thing that we are all excited for in our house is summer time! I can not wait to go on walks with the girls, take them to play in the park, and take them swimming. I also know that Brett can not wait for the golf course to open here. I have feeling that he might be planning on going golfing quite a bit.

It's Official

I received my diploma last week and put it in the frame Brett got me for Christmas, and it is now proudly hanging on our wall. I am happy that I finished school. I am not going to say that it was easy and that I didn't want to quit multiple times, but I am grateful for the support of a wonderful husband and other family (like my mom who said she would kill me if I didn't finish :) I am grateful that I have my degree now so if I need to use it I can. For those who do not know it is a degree of Bachelor of Science in Health Education.I am more proud and grateful for these little girls though and I am so glad that I can be at home with them more now. I love being a mom... even through the hard days and nights... there is nothing better!
Avery and Oakley are both growing so fast. Avery is already wanting to snowboard like dad... maybe next year we can take her up and let her try skiing.
An update on Oakley... the doctor thinks she has allergies and we are trying to figure out what it is. My poor baby has been so congested pretty much her whole life (and everyone always laughs at me when I say that because she is only 2 months old, but how would you like to be super super congested for 2 months) The doctor told me to try not eating dairy for a couple weeks and she if that changes things because she may be allergic to it so we will see. I am not liking this to much because I love milk but I really want to figure this out so that we can help our little one feel better. But isn't she just so cute?
She can't quite hold her head up well enough to sit in the bumbo by herself yet but she will soon.

What's up in the new year

Our new year has been great so far. Brett has been busy with school and work, but he has made time to fit in fun things like snowboarding and snowmobiling, and of course spending time with me and the girls. Avery and Oakley are growing like crazy. Oakley is already 1 1/2 months old. Oakley loves to sleep and eat and Avery loves to play and loves to be a big sister. I am loving being done with school and spending more time being a mom :) I still work a bit but I get to take the girls and I get to do some work at my own home so it is nice. Here are a few recent pictures of what we have been up to.

We are also trying to potty train Avery. As you can see she is wearing big girl underwear. I have realized that this is not easy. She sometimes goes in the potty but sometimes she just sits on it and says "I can't do this all my life" but little does she know... she can and she will.
I also colored my hair brown
And here are a few pictures of some fun things we have done. We took Avery bowling for her second time and she even got to wear bowling shoes this time. I love the picture of Avery and Brett watching the ball go down the lane. Every time after she rolled the ball she would squat down and watch the ball just like her dad.

We have had quite a bit of snow around here so Avery and I built a snowman and threw snowballs at dad as he watched us out the window.

I am sure there are many more great things to come this year and many changes because Brett will finish school this year. So we will see where we go from here. I am excited and nervous for the changes.

Oakley's Special Day

Oakley was blessed by her father on January 2nd. He gave her a wonderful blessing. We are so grateful to have a father and husband in our home who holds the priesthood. We decided to have Oakley wear my dress that I was blessed in. It fit her perfect and she looked beautiful in it.

We are so grateful that a lot of our families were able to come share Oakley's special day with us.

The Best Time of the Year

Our Christmas was so much fun. It is so fun to have a little child that is at that age where Christmas is so exciting. It is great to get to play the part of Santa. We let Avery open one present on Christmas Eve... her Christmas pajamas.
Doesn't she just look adorable in them?
Avery did not want to get up on Christmas morning. Brett went in her room at about 8 in the morning to wake her and she just told him to go away and get out. Then he went in again about 10 minutes later and told her that he was going to go look at what Santa had brought her. She then quickly jumped out of bed and ran as fast as she could to the living room. It was so fun to watch her from the time she got out of her room and saw her present to the time she got to that dollhouse that Santa brought her. The look on her face was priceless. She loved her fisher price dollhouse and played with it all day.

Avery was showing Oakley a gift that they both got.

Checking out what's in the stocking.

Brett got a bunch of golf balls and a few new golf clubs. We also both got new day hiking/snowboarding back packs. Brett also got me a nice BYU-I diploma frame, and some clothes. Avery got lots of toys and her and Oakley got some new clothes.

Hope you enjoyed the few pictures I posted of our Christmas. We are so grateful for this time of year and for our Savior's birth and the great life that he lived and the sacrifice that he made for us. This truly is the best time of the year. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas also.

Christmas Traditions

We like to build gingerbread houses every year at Christmas time. We spent Christmas at our home this year just the four of us for the first time. We enjoyed it. We missed spending time with other family but we had a good time with just our little family. We made lots of Christmas treats for people and spent time playing and relaxing. Avery helped me decorate my house but mostly she just enjoyed eating all the candy.
Avery, Oakley and I made a pretty nice gingerbread house

Brett got all creative on us and made a ski lodge with ski lift, gummy bears on skis and all. Even though ours was pretty I would have to say that he won coolest gingerbread house.

Sisters... best of friends

Avery is such a good big sister. She loves Oakley and loves to help me with her. Avery is almost always willing to go get me something that I need for Oakley. They are going to be such good friends (at least I hope) :) I love these pictures of Avery and Oakley... hope you enjoy them.
I love my girls!

Avery likes to help me wash Oakley in the bath.
Oakley is such a sweet baby.
We are very happy and feel very blessed.
